I’m so glad you made it to Pretty Bird Kitchen!
While you’re here, let me tell you a little about myself and this website.
I’m Summer, a 20-something plant-eater who loves trying new recipes and learning more about the long-term health benefits of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle.
As you might guess, my kitchen is my happy place. There’s just something so relaxing about preparing a delicious meal, especially when Frank Sinatra sings to me while I chop veggies!
In addition to cooking, I love my family, Jesus, flowers, fruit, bright colors (especially aqua and coral!), pretty dresses, furry kitties, Jane Austen novels, and laughing.
That’s basically me in a nutshell, but here is a list of 10 fun facts to help you get to know me a little better.
About Pretty Bird Kitchen
I started Pretty Bird Kitchen (PBK for short) to educate, encourage, equip, and inspire other plant-eaters who want to eat delicious meals while fueling their bodies with the kind of food that promotes long-term health.
You see, I’ve been eating a mostly whole food, plant-based diet since May 2016, and since then I’ve read just about every book I can get my hands on that relates to this way of eating. Now I’m 100% convinced that this lifestyle is the way to go if you want to be the healthiest version of yourself.
Even though I initially embarked on my whole food, plant-based journey to heal some pretty serious health problems, I continue to eat this way because I feel my best when I fuel my body with whole plant foods.
Of course, I’m not perfect by any means! I still have cheat meals every now and then, and that’s why I like to take a grace-filled approach to my plant-based lifestyle. As an extension of my own philosophy toward food, I also take a grace-filled approach to Pretty Bird Kitchen and the content I share here.
My goal for Pretty Bird Kitchen is to offer you the information and tools you need to succeed with your whole food, plant-based lifestyle without making you feel like you have to be 100% perfect 100% of the time. In my experience, that just isn’t realistic, at least for most people.
So if this progress-not-perfection approach sounds like one you can get behind, then you’re in the right place! I think you’ll enjoy the tips, tricks, and insights I can offer.
