This sweet berry oatmeal comes together in under ten minutes for a quick breakfast option you can throw together even when you have limited time in the morning! Whole food plant-based, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 tsp. maple syrup (more to taste)
  • 1 tsp. flaxseed meal
  • 1 tsp. hulled hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • strawberries, fresh or frozen

Instructions
 

  • Add the water to a kettle or pot and bring to a boil.
  • Place the oats in a heat-proof bowl.
  • Pour the boiling water over the oats and stir slightly until all the oats are moistened. Place a lid or plate over the bowl and let stand 5 minutes.
  • Remove the lid/plate and stir in the maple syrup and flax meal, then top with chia seeds, hemp seeds, and berries. Enjoy!

Notes

This recipe makes one serving.
You can use old fashioned rolled oats (not the quick cook kind) or quick cook steel cut oats. Sometimes I even use a mix of the two for a heartier texture!
You can use fresh or frozen berries, depending on what time of year you make this recipe. I like to use fresh berries when berries are in season, but the recipe works just fine with frozen berries too.
Any combination of berries will work for this recipe. I usually use strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries.
