  • 8 cups cubed apples (about 5 large apples)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

  • Add apple cubes and water to a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover with a lid, and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add maple syrup, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla extract to the pot and stir until all of the apples are evenly coated. Return the lid to the pot and cook an additional 5 minutes or until the apples are as soft as you like.
  • Serve warm.

This recipe makes about 4 cups of cinnamon apples, which serves 6.
½ inch apple cubes cook more quickly than larger apple chunks, but feel free to use whatever size you prefer. If you use thicker apple cubes or even apple wedges, you’ll need to cook them longer.
Any apple variety will work for this recipe, but I tend to use either Gala, Cameo, Granny Smith, or a combination of these.
