Is it just me, or did September fly by? And now we’re already five days into October!
I hope you’re doing all sorts of fun fall things to kick off the season. I still need put out our fall decorations, but we did take a day trip on Saturday to see some pretty fall sights. You can read all about it here.
With the end of September came another student loan payment. We made our final payment on our air conditioner (see this post for more info about our payment plan) earlier in the month, so our student loan payment still wasn’t what I normally like to pay. However, it was more than twice the minimum payment amount, so I’m satisfied.
If you’re new around here, I recommend reading this post to see exactly where we started with Josh’s student loans. If you’ve been following along for a while, then you can dive right into the next section.
Student Loan Breakdown
When I made September’s payment, Josh’s loan balance was $45,022.81. If you remember from August’s report, I was so thrilled that we made it below the $45k mark. But as you know, interest adds up quickly. That’s why the balance crept back up to $45k. Sigh.
But we’re still hanging in there! We paid $685 on the loan, which brought the balance to $44,337.81. That new balance isn’t totally accurate since it doesn’t account for the few days’ interest that accrues while his payment is in transit. However, I’ll stick with that number for simplicity’s sake.
So far, we’ve paid a total of $7,145 toward his student loan this year. We paid $8,100 in 2016, so we’re close to beating last year’s number!
And if we’re lucky, I’ll have some pretty visuals to go along with the numbers next month. I’m working on a limited time budget here, so I do what I can. 🙂
It’s taken three months, but our air conditioner is finally paid for. That really put a damper on our recent student loan payments, but I’m hopeful that we’ll get back on track this month.
Call me crazy, but I’d like to see this year’s payments total at least $10,000. I’m always a little nervous putting my goals out there in the open because of the risk of public failure, but I think we can make this one happen.
And who knows, the Lord might see fit to completely blow my goal out of the water! I’m always impressed by how He provides for us, so we might be in for a surprise come the end of December.
It’s fall, friends! Go crazy decorating with pumpkins, and be sure to do something fun with your family during this beautiful time of year.
