You don’t have to do anything but put your produce in the container.

I'm sorry to hear that! I have the older sets where the inserts are removable, but I've seen the newer versions in stores and it looks like they no longer come with the removable trays; instead, the bottom is textured to keep produce elevated. I don't have any of the new containers so I don't know how well this new design works. If you washed your produce before putting it in the containers, then that could explain why your produce spoiled faster. The containers work best if you put unwashed (and thus dry) produce in them. Hopefully that helps!

I bought a set and they did not come with the inserts. Did you purchase them separately? My experience with storing fresh fruits and vegetables in the containers was the opposite of what you describe. My produce spoiled faster in the containers. I would not purchase again and would not recommend to anyone else.

Hi, Meg! I haven't tried storing more than one type of fruit or vegetable in the same container, but I imagine that it would be fine. :) I hope you enjoy your new containers!

Hi Summer,

Thanks for the info on the Rubbermaid containers. I just bought some. I was wondering if you know if you can store more than one type of fruit or vegetable in one container.

Thanks, Meg
